FSB Award for Cotswold Business
It was great to meet the team at Equifeast who have beaten hundreds of entrants to win the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Innovation of the Year Award. The family business design, manufacture and market nutritional supplements for horses and has tripled in UK sales in the past three years. It has brought to market over five new products and count riding pro Harry Meade and Olympian Laura Tomlinson as loyal customers.
The Montague Inn
I often have to photograph food for my clients and usually I get to eat it after which is fab and real perk of the job. But it's usually small portions of posh food on massive plates. So I was especially pleased when the award winning chef Mike Jones asked if I would taste test his new menu, which included the most delicious pies.
Hartpury College Brochure
I had a smashing day at Hartpury College near Gloucester the other day. They wanted some pictures of their activities that could be used in a brochure, website and other promotional stuff. I started off photographing one of their former students who is now a Forestry Commission warden in the Forest of Dean. It was pouring with rain and we were getting eaten alive by midges so I didn't hang around, I quickly popped up a light stand and got a few shots that I'm really pleased with. The rain meant that the light was very soft and with a little bit of off camera flash the colours become saturated as well as the photographer. Conditions were a lot easier at the college and I got to spend a pleasant couple of hours meeting photographing the students with a whole host of animals.
University of Gloucestershire Brochure
Here's a picture I took for a corporate brochure that the University of Gloucestershire is producing. Joe was a great model and quite happy to stand still for 5 minutes whilst I messed about setting up 3 lights for this shot. It was mid afternoon and very bright, so I had to use a lot of flash power from the speedlites to overpower the daylight and make the sky look a bit moody. I also put a yellow gel on the back light to warm it up a bit. The client was very happy, if I get to see the brochure I'll pop a copy up on here.
Sophie, Countess of Wessex
I had the great pleasure to photograph Sophie Wessex yesterday when she was visiting Meningitis Now headquarters in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Her husband Prince Edward was there too, but Sophie was the star of the show. She has been patron of the charity for 10 years and I could tell she was deeply moved by the plight of some of the parents she met whilst touring the building. I'm a big fan of the Royal family and over the years I've been lucky enough to photograph most of them. Sophie reminded me a lot of Princess Diana who I photographed a lot in the late 80's and early 90's.
New website launched.
I've just spent a couple of hours re doing the website, please take a look.

Ed Vaizey MP launches Superfast Broadband in the Cotswolds
I had a ridiculously early start today photographing Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, in Lechlade where he was switching on BT's superfast broadband for the town. I had an interesting chat with Bill Murphy who is BT's MD for Next Generation Access, he was telling me that the UK is now well ahead of the rest of Europe with broadband speed. Today marks the single biggest day so far for Britain’s superfast rural broadband rollout.

Master Chef and former England Rugby Captain uses a Gloucestershire oven.
Phil Vickery, the former England rugby captain, who replicated his prowess on the pitch in the kitchen by winning celebrity MasterChef title, is now cooking at home with one of my clients cookers. The lovely, friendly, Gloucestershire folk at Everhot make homely handbuilt oven ranges right here in the shire.
Everhot Range Cookers
It was nice to witness some top notch engineering in full swing in Gloucestershire. My client Everhot is a local company based in Coaley near Dursley where they hand build these terrific looking ovens. I can't cook but I'm assured they make smashing pies in the hands of someone who knows how to drive a cooker.

Hospital Art
As an Arts Council contractor I get to photograph some nice art, but this little job at the Bath RUH was special. Some of the kids in this art class were pretty poorly and to watch them enjoy an art lesson was touching.
